100th Birthday of Clark County Commission
hosted at The Hammargren Home of Nevada History: July 3, 2009
Hughes' Hand-Me-Downs:
October 26, 2007
Hammargren adds a few of recluse's artifacts to home show. "The old fireball is
back in me," Hammargren said. He's making his comeback with several new
additions to the vast collection that already includes treasures such as an
Apollo space capsule and the motorcycle Robbie Knievel used to jump the Caesars
Palace fountains. (BRIAN HAYNES, Las Vegas Review Journal)

until you've taken the tour of Dr. Lonnie Hammargren's
amazing home.

Former Lieutenant Governor "Awake Wake":
April 1, 2007
Hammargren joined by family, friends
for funeral while he's still alive to enjoy it. When the wake for former Lt.
Gov. Lonnie Hammargren ended Saturday and the New Orleans-style processional
began, 76-year-old Cecelia Alston wasted little time. Along with nearby
showgirls, she danced to the jazz in the Community Lutheran Church parking lot,
in her pale beige silk dress and high stiletto heels.
Dr. Lonnie Hammargren: Collector, surgeon, statesman, and driver of hard
bargains. You can't live in Las Vegas for long without finding out about Lonnie
Hammargren's house. I first noticed it while driving by it one day, because most
ordinary residences do not have Statue of Liberty arms sticking over their back
walls. And I could tell even without stopping that the yard was chock full of
other large artifacts, signs, and chunks of architecture. (MEGAN EDWARDS, LIVING

The Scene and Heard: June

Dr. Lonnie Hammargren, former
lieutenant governor is cleaning house -- well, a wing or three. He's putting
1,000 items up for sale, half of them for less than $5. The mother of all yard
sales runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Sunday at 4300 Ridgecrest Drive. He's
making room for the latest addition to his eclectic collection, the
Stratosphere's "High Roller" roller coaster. (NORM CLARKE, Las Vegas Review

Spotlight on Hammargren home: Ex-lieutenant governor leads tour of his 'Desert
Kingdom' . . . If you've ever driven past ex-Lt. Gov. Lonnie Hammargren's
compound in East Las Vegas, you've probably said it: "What's with that house?"
The Home & Garden Television cable network recently asked Hammargren, currently
a candidate for his old job, that question on a show of the same name. (MOLLY

Eclectic Ways to Celebrate Nevada Day:
Oct 28, 2005
For the tenth year in a row, Hamamrgren is opening his home to the public to
celebrate Nevada Day. People can come in and take a stroll through his
underground mine, which not only marks Nevada mining week, but also serves as a
spooky Halloween chamber and an MX missile silo. It costs him a bundle to
collect and maintain all of this stuff, but Hammargren wants residents to
remember our state's heritage.
Hammargren says, "Is it worth it? In fun, yeah. In money, no.
I've put millions into this but I'm going to leave it to the State of Nevada as
a museum of modern history. Is it worth it? You bet it is." (George Knapp,
Investigative Reporter, Channel 8 EYEWITNESSNEWS)
