SECRETS

July 2, 2009 – Las Vegas, Nevada

The “Hammargren Home of Nevada History” will host the 100th Birthday of Clark County which is perhaps the best kept secrets since the Hughes Glomar Explorer. (more about this later)

The Good Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social on Friday July 3rd from 3 to 6 PM will pay tribute to our Clark County Commissioners (current, past and posthumously) with “Certificates of Service” from Governor Jim Gibbons to those who have served HONORABLY…And for those who have served DISHONORABLY they will be displayed behind the original Clark County Jail-house doors which are over one hundred years old!

The Clark County Centennial Committee selected “The Las Vegas Strip from the Howard Hughes Era and Later” for their live televised panel discussion on July 1.  It is fitting then, that the Hammargren Compound should dust-off the many Howard Hughes hotel signs, aircraft parts, photographs and documents that reflect his genius to exhibit at the Centennial Party.

THIS IS NEWS:  For the first time; photographs, official documents and memos of the 'Hughes Glomar Explorer' will be displayed to our invited guests and the media.  This rare collection was donated to the “Hughes Rogue Collection” by next door neighbor Dottie Reeves whose late husband Paul was the General Manager of the top secret CIA - Hughes Glomar Explorer Project.

THIS IS NEWS TOO:  Perhaps another best kept secret of all is that the entire front facade that encloses the “Hammargren Home of Nevada History” is a full size replica of a Mayan building in Mexico called “Palace of the Governor”.  The corner house is a Frank Lloyd Wright Mayan Revival Style Design and the Mayan pyramid house in www.chichenitza.com is a one third scale model of “Castillo in Chichen Itza”, one of the seven modern wonders of the world.

Many previous Commissioners will be attending such as Thalia Dondero, Paul Christensen, Chip Maxfield, Donald Clark and Bruce Woodbury.

Entertainment is provided by “The Dummkopf's” courtesy of Jim Marsh's Skyline Restaurant and Casino.  Ice Cream provided by Anderson Dairy Inc. serving Clark County since 1907
